Behind the Scenes
Production notes from the five video selections on my website.
Lolita
This is an example of a short Promotional Video. Lolita uses this video to show prospective clients her dancing talents as well as for them to get to know her, her motivations for dance, costuming, energy and personality. That she is beautiful, intelligent and sweet also comes out in this piece.
1940's Period commercial.
The period feel was achieved through costuming, props, set design, lighting, music and scriptwriting. I visited classic auto shows to find the car that I felt was best. Our actress modeled numerous dresses, gloves and hats before we chose this combo. The locations were actual places in our city but had to be shot without having any contemporary fixtures. We lit the office scene through miniblinds to achieve a film noir look made popular in the 1940's.
Christmas TV Special
Here is an excerpt from a 30 minute annual Christmas variety show. Shot and edited film style with great care for lighting to achieve desired moods. No "canned" production music or "canned" animation, all music was originally created and composed to set the tone and tell the story throughout. Shot on location in Arizona, Tennessee and Idaho. The goal was to give a hometown, community feel yet deliver a proffessional look. The opening animation set a beautiful tone for our program. The animator's attention to detail was amazing: Note the cookie crumbs, texture of the table, book cover, cloth tapestry and plate. The light and shadows of the book pages and window panes. I love the Christmas lights at the base of the window, very creative. The animation sequentially mapped the digital image sequences, rendered in 5 separate layers, incorporated a compilation of over 300 separate 3D models and particle dynamics were used for the falling snow.
Marod Medical Spa and Salon
The goal here was to showcase the pleasure of the facility by witnessing clients being pampered. Lighting helped set private, warm and inviting tones. The use of a dolly helps to bring the viewer into the facility. I composed the shots to accentuate the beauty of the architecture.
First Federal Savings Bank
This is a series of 3 commercials shot throughout the California coast and Idaho
Miscellaneous
Jaime Theitten Music Video
Jaime is a gospel recording artist. The goal of her music video was to accent her natural beauty and her love for nature. The numerous locations visually solidify the message of the song that God is "Anywhere You Are".
Documentary
This profile was part of an eight minute documentary about a Benedictine Monk and his service to the terminally ill. We wanted the pacing and look to match Selby's contemplative lifestyle. So it is very soft, mellow, peaceful and quiet.
Holiday Music Videos
Selections from a Christmas TV special. One is a mood piece featuring three modern day messengers announcing the arrival of the messiah. The other was an elaborate 1950's piece about a love struck teen who devises a scheme to kiss Mary Sue - Underneath the Mistletoe, a song I wrote for this video. The production called for 25 extras all decked out in 50's costumes. We also did a lot of set and prop design to create an authentic 50's diner.
ASU School of Sustainability
I wanted the students to tell their story so I came up with this idea of a young man in a coffee shop searching the net. He lands at the ASU SOS website and he meets Terra, an SOS student who takes him on a tour of the school via the site. The final video premiered as part of a national webcast on global issues that was broadcast throughout the nation. This video also appears on their website as a promotion and recruitment tool.
